About Sierra Vista

The city of Sierra Vista, which annexed Fort Huachuca in 1971, is a growing community where a number of personnel assigned to the post reside. Post personnel also reside in the communities of Huachuca City, Bisbee, Tombstone, Benson, Douglas, Nogales, and Tucson. Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is a key Air Combat Command installation, located within the city limits of Tucson, Arizona.

Within a short driving distance are the mining towns of Bisbee and Tombstone, the "Town Too Tough to Die."; In addition to local and Tucson stores, shoppers also frequent Nogales, Naco, and Agua Prieta, Mexico, all within an hour-and-a-half drive from the post. Fort Huachuca enjoys a moderate climate.
