- Can leaders emphasizing and prioritizing sleep have an impact on Soldiers? MRD-W is developing a pilot training program and follow-on study to examine the degree to which leaders who emphasize and prioritize sleep can have a positive impact on the behavioral health of their Soldiers.
- Working with the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center Assessed the behavioral health and well-being of the student population during accelerated language acquisition training.
- Updating the Unit Behavioral Health Needs Assessment Refining and validating this tool to ensure leadership has the best information available to guide decision-making on behavioral health issues.
- Completed first Mental Health Advisory Team mission in the Pacific region Collected and analyzed surveys from 8th Army Soldiers and provider surveys from behavioral health staff.

- Activation Ceremony of US Army Medical Research Directorate - West Wednesday, 7 October marked the activation ceremony of United States Army Medical Research Directorate West.
2014
- 2nd Calvary Regiment Behavior Health Leadership study were completed in 2014 Two post-deployment phases of the 2nd Calvary Regiment Behavior Health Leadership study were completed in 2014.
- Behavioral Health Adjustment in Reserve Component Soldiers During a Noncombat Deployment to Africa This study benchmarked rates of mental health problems, adjustment difficulties, and perceptions of unit climate among 505 U.S. soldiers (primarily National Guard) deployed to the Horn of Africa in 2012.
- Transforming in Europe The Transformation study, designed to assess the impact of military community transformation on the well-being of Soldiers, Civilians, and Spouses, collected surveys in transitioning communities in both Germany (Kaiserslautern and Wiesbaden) and Italy.
- Mental Health Outcomes in US and UK Military Personnel Returning from Iraq Research of military personnel who deployed to the conflicts in Iraq or Afghanistan has suggested that there are differences in mental health outcomes between UK and US military personnel.
2013
- USAMRU-E Relocates from Heidelberg to Sembach As part of the reconsolidation of US Army Medical units in Germany, USAMRU-E closed the offices at Nachrichten Kaserne in Heidelberg, after 36 years. Along with the Europe Regional Medical Command, USAMRU-E relocated to Sembach Kaserne in July of 2013.
- USAMRU-E Scientists requested by US Army Africa and MEDCOM to conduct Military-to-Military Exchanges on Resilience with the Ugandan People's Defence Force and the Kenyan Defence Force LTC Thomas and Dr. Adler travelled to Jinja, Uganda (February 2013) and Nairobi, Kenya (June 2013) and conducted 3-day information exchanges with military medical personnel from Uganda and Kenya.
- Stronger Link Between Combat Exposure and Unethical Combat than PTSD Research involving military service members has shown a strong relationship between combat experiences and increased risk for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental health problems.
2012
- Internalizing Behaviors, Environment and Combat Predict Externalizing Behaviors Alcohol problems, aggression, and other externalizing behaviors after return from deployment: Understanding the role of combat exposure, internalizing symptoms, and social environment.
- Insomnia as Predictor Versus Outcome of PTSD and Depression Among Iraq Combat Veterans The study conducted a longitudinal assessment of insomnia as an antecedent versus consequence of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression symptoms among combat veterans.
2011
- Mental Health Advisory Team-Africa: Pre-Assessment Site Visit As requested by AFRICOM, USAMRU-E led AFRICOM's first Mental Health Advisory Team (MHAT).
- New Study Pilots Advanced Post-Development Transition Training A combined USAMRU-E and Center for Military Psychiatry and Neuroscience team conducted a pilot study with 32 101st Soldiers in July at Fort Campbell.
- NATO Symposium and Research Group Dr. Adler attended the NATO Symposium Mental Health and Well-Being Across the Military Spectrum (MP-HFM-205) in Bergen, Norway (11-13 APR 11).
- USAMRU-E Launches New Unit Logo This quarter, we are launching USAMRU-E's first unit crest. I worked with graphic designers at the Medical Research and Materiel command (MRMC) to design a crest that would reflect the unit's unique history and mission.
2010
- APA Publishes book showcasing WRAIR A new book published by the American Psychological Association (APA), showcases WRAIR research.
- J-MHAT 7 DEPLOYS TO AFGHANISTAN LTC Sipos deployed to Afghanistan from 27 JUL to 15 SEP 10 in support of the first Joint Mental Health Advisory Team 7 (J-MHAT 7) to Operation Enduring Freedom.
- Change of Command at USAMRU-E On 22 JUN 10, LTC Sipos assumed command of USAMRU-E from MAJ(P) McGurk.
