Access to Justice Division
During Justice Brent D. Benjamin’s year as Chief Justice in 2009, he dedicated his office to the creation and maintenance of a formal Access to Justice Program for our state. An Access to Justice Commission was then established. In the summer of 2011, the commission began holding public forums around West Virginia to assess the needs of citizens in accessing the justice system.
In 2014, the Division expanded to include the following programs: Language Access, Sign Language, ADA, Law Clerks, Elder Abuse, Pretrial Release, and Reentry.
