Command Sergeant Major Walton Jones assumed the duties as the JMC Command Sergeant Major on February 11, 2015. The JM&L; LCMC executes integrated life-cycle management and provides effective, available, and affordable munitions and lethality to U.S. Military Services.

Headquartered at Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Ill., the Joint Munitions Command operates a nationwide network of ammunition plants and storage facilities. Joint Munitions Command is the logistics integrator for life-cycle management of ammunition providing a global presence of technical support to deployed units.

Command Sergeant Major Walton Jones is a native of Hammond, Louisiana. He enlisted in the Army in July 1989 and attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Dix, New Jersey and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Eustis, Virginia.

He has held a variety of leadership positions during his career ranging from AIT/BNCOC/ANCOC Instructor, 8th Brigade, Fort Eustis, VA, 1997; Sr. Transportation Supervisor, 311th ESC Los Angeles, CA, 2000; 311 ESC, Los Angeles, CA., First Sergeant, 2001; Fort Eustis, VA G3 Sergeant Major, 2006; Garrison Sergeant Major, Fort Story, VA, 2007; 1st Armored Division, Wiesbaden, Germany, G3 SGM, 2008; 1st Armored Division, Wiesbaden, Germany; Division Transportation Sergeant Major (DTO), 2009; Command Sergeant Major, 39th Transportation Battalion (MC), Kaiserslautern, Germany 2010; NCOA, JRTC and Fort Polk, LA, Commandant, 2015.

Command Sergeant Major Jones' military education includes the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officers’ Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officers’ Course, Instructor Development Course, Battle Staff Course, Equal Opportunity Leadership Course, Unit Movements Course, Worldwide Port Systems Course, Global Command and Control Course, First Sergeants’ Course, United States Army Sergeants’ Major Academy (USASMA) – Class 58, Battalion and Brigade Pre-Command Course, Command Sergeants’ Major Development Program Course, Sergeants’ Major Force Management Course and the Commandant’s Course.

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (with six Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Commendation Medal (with seven Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Good Conduct Medal (7th award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Oversees Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, four NCOES ribbons, the Ancient St. Christopher's award of excellence and other medals.

He is also a member of the Transportation Corps Regimental Association and the National Defense Transportation Association.
