What is it?

Trich is the most common curable STD. It is caused by a parasite and is spread by oral and vaginal sex, mutual masturbation and by sharing sex toys. Trich is common among heterosexuals, as well as women who have sex with women.

What are the symptoms?

If you are FEMALE, symptoms include:

• A frothy yellow-green vaginal discharge that smells bad
• Pain during sex or when peeing
• Itchy, irritated genitals.
• Lower stomach pain

If you are MALE, often there are no symptoms. When symptoms occur they include:

• Pain inside the penis with a slight discharge
• A burning feeling after urination or ejaculation

What are the effects?

If you have trich, and you’re exposed to HIV, it’s more likely you’ll get HIV. If you have trich and HIV, its also more likely you’ll spread HIV to your partner(s). Trich is also commonly found in women with PID.

Pregnant women with trichomoniasis often have babies who are born early or have low birth weight.

Is there a cure?

Trichomoniasis can be cured with prescription medicines. Be sure to clean sex toys after use and between uses, if you share them with another person. And wash your hands if you play with yourself, or someone else. Also, using condoms and having fewer sex partners reduces your risk of getting Trich.
