The Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS), G-4 (Logistics) and the Office of the
Assistance Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology
(OASA (ALT)) partnered on an effort to demonstrate powerful mobile and
network technologies that are available in the commercial logistics
marketplace and are having transformative effects on process effectiveness
and efficiencies. The DCS, G-4 directed LIA, in coordination with OASA
(ALT), to investigate these capabilities and process enhancements, and
demonstrate those that had the potential to enhance legacy Army sustainment
processes.
This effort, named the Logistics Integration Capstone FY15 (LogIC 15)
initiative, included participation from the U.S. Army Combined Arms Support
Command (CASCOM), the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research Development and
Engineering Center (TARDEC), the U.S. Army Communications, Electronics
Research and Engineering Center (CERDEC), and a variety of acquisition
offices such as Program Executive Office (PEO) Soldier, PEO Command, Control
and Communications-Tactical (C3T), and PEO Combat Support & Combat Service
Support (CS&CSS;).
LogIC 15 involved two lines of effort . The first focused on identifying
and demonstrating those logistics processes and technologies which had the
greatest potential for maximizing logistics contributions towards F2025B and
the Army Operating Concept (AOC) goals and objectives. The second focused on
developing an implementation strategy and roadmap for inserting those LogIC
15 event high-potential process improvements and technologies into Army
formations.
The LogIC 15 event was hosted by the CERDEC Space and Terrestrial
Communication Directorate (S&CTD;) at their Command, Control, Communications,
Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) Ground
Support Activity (CGA), located at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New
Jersey. The work of integrating the technologies, redesigning the processes,
integrating them into the CGA network, and then demonstrating and assessing
them was a team effort, involving subject matter experts (SMEs) and
technical experts from all participating organizations. This culminated with
our successful demonstration, ‘Linking Logistics to the Network,’ in
September 2015.
