The Transportation Vision was truly a collaboration between the joint committee of the CMA/TAM, the Board of Supervisors, and the residents of Marin County. All elements of the plan were shaped by the people who live and work in the County. As a result of these public comments, literally hundreds of changes were made to the Transportation Vision. In addition, a compendium of comments were circulated to all jurisdictions. Many of these comments are especially useful to individual cities as they continue their own planning.

TAM Board Workshop - May 2007

TAM held a Commissioners' public workshop on May 5, 2007 for a review of Marin County's transportation goals and accomplishments and a discussion of its future. See the invitation.   View the Agenda, PowerPoint Presentation (pdf Slides 1-15; Slides 16-40), Marin's Transportation Accomplishments and the Roles and Responsibilities Document from this workshop. A summary of the workshop will be posted soon.

 Additional Public Meetings

Extensive Public Outreach Effort
The transportation vision is truly a collaboration between the joint committee of the CMA and Board of Supervisor's and the residents of Marin County. All elements of the plan were shaped by the people who live and work in the County. A very brief summary of the public outreach done for key modal master plans is included below. This list is by no means complete, but provides a flavor of the outreach completed throughout this process.

The public process that created the Vision Document was further expanded as the document progressed. In preparing this document, two public opinion polls, with over 1,000 total responses were conducted. These polls were essential to understanding the priorities of residents of Marin County who might not otherwise participate in a planning process. In addition, the planning effort began with a series of all day workshops, each concentrating on an individual mode. Outreach specific to the plan included:

  • Six public workshops held throughout the County, attended by nearly 200 people.
  • Mailing to 13,000 households of high-propensity voters, attracting over 1,000 written comments.
  • Meetings with City Managers and Planning Directors of all jurisdictions.
  • Access to documents and two-way communication through Internet web site.
