Presidio to conduct emergency-preparedness training July 29
PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. – The Presidio will conduct its annual full-scale exercise Friday, July 29. This exercise will take place in the vicinity of the DoD building, Ord Military Community in Seaside.

Army Announces Prescribed Burn Intent for 2016
PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. – The Army has identified three areas in the former Fort Ord Impact Area for prescribed burning as part of its 2016 plan. These burns are required as an important part of the munitions cleanup of the former Impact Area. The burns encourage recovery of the rare, threatened and endangered fire-dependent plant species. In addition, prescribed burns can reduce excessive vegetation, which reduces the risk of wildfire.

New commander takes reins at Presidio of Monterey
PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. – Army Col. Lawrence Brown becomes the new Presidio of Monterey garrison commander Thursday in a 10 a.m. ceremony at the Presidio’s Soldier Field, replacing Col. Paul Fellinger who has held command since July 2013.

DLIFLC Commandant runs with troops and local ROTC
PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. – The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center commandant, Col. Phillip Deppert, is taking his troops for a run on Wednesday Feb. 17 at 3 p.m., together with ROTC members of both Monterey and Seaside High Schools. Also running will be the Institute's cherished mascot, Pfc. Lingo.
