Hours of Operation:

The Clerk’s Office is located on the first floor in Room 1200. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Courthouse Access:

The public entrance is at the corner of Division Street and West Central Boulevard. All individuals entering the building are required to proceed through a metal detector and have any bags, packages, purses, etc. examined through an X-ray machine. Electronic devices, including photographic/broadcasting equipment, are prohibited absent a court order. A standing order pertaining to attorney utilization of personal electronic devices in the courthouse has been issued. Please visit our Attorney Resource page for a copy of the order. Firearms, knives, pocket knives, chemical sprays and other weapons not specified are also prohibited.

Courthouse Access:

The Courthouse is fully wheelchair accessible with ramps on both sides of the main entrance, elevators, and a wheelchair height counter in the Intake Office. Please contact the Clerk’s Office if further accommodations need to be made.

Driving Directions to Public Parking in Front of Courthouse:

If traveling east on I-4, take Exit 82B (South St.), turn left on South St. Turn right on Division Ave. Parking lot entrance is to your left on corner of Division Ave and Grove Park Drive.

If traveling west on I-4, take exit 84, (Colonial Drive).Proceed straight over Colonial Drive onto N. Hughey Ave. On Hughey Avenue, drive approximately 1 mile, turn right on Washington St. Turn left on Division Ave. Parking lot entrance is to your right on corner of Division Ave and Grove Park Drive.

If traveling from the east, take 408-W, to exit 11A (Rosalind Ave). Turn left on South St. Turn right on Division Ave. Parking lot entrance is to your left on corner of Division Ave and Grove Park Drive.

If traveling from the west, take 408-E to the Exit 10B (I4 East- Daytona Beach). Exit on 83A, (Amelia St.). Turn left on Amelia. Turn left on Hughey Ave. Continue straight. Turn right on Washington St. Turn left of Division Ave. Parking lot entrance is to your right on corner of Division and Grove Park Drive.

The entrance to the Courthouse is on the corner of Central Blvd and Division Ave.

Jury Information Sheet

Parking Information For Jurors Only:

Parking (including disabled parking) is available across the street on the corner of Grove Park Drive and Division Avenue. The charge for a full day is $5. This parking fee will be included in your jury reimbursement check from the Court.

Parking Information For Disabled Jurors:

You may park in the open air lot located across the street from the Courthouse on Grove Park Drive and Division Street. When you drive in, please notify the attendant that you require disabled parking and he will assist you.

Juror Attire & Conduct:

You are expected to conduct yourself with reserve and courtesy, and when appearing at the courthouse, must dress appropriately to preserve the dignity of the Court. Proper attire includes coat and tie for men and similarly appropriate attire for women. No jeans, polo shirts or sneakers.

Drop Box Information:

7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The after hours depository is provided as a convenience by the Clerk’s Office. Building hours are subject to change without notice by the Court Security Officers, GSA, U.S. Marshal Service and U.S. Postal Service.

The depository box is not for filing emergency or sealed pleadings nor should checks or money be deposited in the box. Please file these types of pleadings with an Intake clerk.

 

 

Orlando Historical Information:

 

The George C. Young United States Courthouse and Federal Building (left) was completed in 1975 and housed the Orlando Division and its agencies until August 2007. Located in the central business district of Orlando, the building is named for one of the original District Judges of the Middle District, Judge George C. Young who served as Chief Judge from 1973 to 1981. Orlando’s first federal judge, Judge Young presided over many notable cases: the desegregation of area public schools, the acquisition of property for the Kennedy Space Center, and a number of high profile criminal cases, among others.

In August 2007, a new building (below) was completed to form a federal Judicial Complex built around a public park designed by landscape pioneer Dan Kiley. Enhancing the heart of downtown Orlando, the new courthouse replicates the tower from the 1941 Federal Building and Post Office. Its five-story atrium contains six large stained glass windows designed by acclaimed New York artist Al Held whose work has won many awards. Dedicated in September 2007, the new George C. Young United States Courthouse and Federal Building is occupied by the Orlando Division of the Middle District and its agencies. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court will occupy the former courthouse building when renovation is complete.
