National Naturalization Best Practices Conference

Modernizing and streamlining access to naturalization services allows a greater number of qualified immigrants to take the critical step of becoming U.S. citizens. To assist in this effort, the New York State Office for New Americans (ONA) and the New Americans Campaign (NAC) co-sponsored a three-day naturalization best practices conference. The event, held May 8th-10th, 2014, at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, was built around a similar event co-hosted in 2013 by NAC and ONA.

This conference focused on sharing best practices in the areas of communications (social media, naturalizations stories, and ethnic media) and how to overcome barriers of linguistic diversity, geography and literacy for specific immigrant populations. The conference also focused on shared best practices and implementation strategies for promoting civic engagement and volunteerism in the immigrant integration cycle.

Visit the New Americans Campaign web site for the agenda of the workshop.
