On behalf of the judicial branch, the Judicial Council's Governmental Affairs represents and advocates for the Judicial Council on legislative, policy, and budget matters. The office also works extensively on the judicial branch budget and related matters, meeting with legislators, committees, committee and leadership staff, as well as staff for the Governor and the state Department of Finance.

August 1, 2016: Legislature reconvenes from Summer Recess
August 31, 2016: Last day for any bill to be passed; Legislature adjourns
September 30, 2016: Last day for Governor to sign or veto bills passed by the Legislature on or before September 1 and in the Governor’s possession after September 1
November 8, 2016: General Election
November 30, 2016: Legislature adjourns at midnight
December 5, 2016: Legislature reconvenes for the 2017-2018 session
January 1, 2017: Statues take effect
