Q. How is the accuracy of LANDFIRE vegetation data assessed?

The LANDFIRE team assesses the accuracy of vegetation mapping through a combination of three techniques: 1) cross validation for each mapping zone and each deliverable, 2) statistical accuracy assessment for clusters of mapping zones using withheld field plots, and 3) case studies in selected areas in combination with the project's technology transfer effort.
