The mission of the IG is to promote the economy, efficiency, and integrity of DSS personnel, programs, and operations in support of DSS' National Industrial Security mission. To support DSS, the IG conducts independent and impartial investigations, reviews, inspections and oversight to promote a systemic program to verify compliance; identify fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement while also identifying and promoting agency best practices. The IG also addresses both internal and external Hotline complaints, as well as coordination with other federal agency Inspectors General.
