USAID Staff Care Services

USAID Staff Care ensures the wellbeing and work-life balance of USAID's total workforce (all hiring categories) through a range of programs and services. USAID has partnered with Federal Occupational Health (FOH) to deliver a secure confidential Staff Care website that provides a central location to access the Employee Assistance / Employee Resilience Program (EAP/ERP), Wellness, Work-Life, and Child Subsidy Programs.

WORK/LIFE

The USAID Staff Care's Work/Life component, WorkLife4You, is designed to help employees and their dependents manage and navigate their day-to-day responsibilities and life events.

  • Expert Guidance and Personalized Referrals. Specialists will save you time by helping you find anything you need-child care, adult care, fitness centers, schools and financial aid options, home improvement professionals, movers, pet care, and other helpful resources. Plus, get free Prenatal, Nursing Mothers, Child Safety, College, Adult Care and Be Well Kits full of helpful info and products.
  • Online Tools and Discounts. Log on to access comprehensive articles, webinars, discussion groups, podcasts, and loads of other helpful tools. Plus, browse the online discount center for huge savings on millions of brand-name products and services.
  • Professional Care Management. Get a free in-person elder care assessment and detailed care recommendations from a Professional Care Manager. In-person assessments are available in every U.S. state and territory.
  • Breastfeeding Support. Get 24/7 guidance from lactation consultants, discounted breast pumps, and a Nursing Mothers kit loaded with things to help you breastfeed your baby.
  • Backup Care for Children and Older Adults. Get placement with fully credentialed in-home and center-based providers. Plan ahead or call for last-minute emergencies. Low co-pay-only $10 for a full day of care, up to 5 visits per family member per year.

WELLNESS

The USAID Staff Care Wellness component is designed to assist our workforce make healthy choices and have healthier lifestyles. This component offers a variety of challenges and programs, and a customizable healthy lifestyle website. The Wellness Program offers a range of activities such as:

  • Disease prevention and self-care
  • On-site challenges
  • Bio-Metric screenings
  • Running/Walking groups
  • Healthy Presentations
  • Weight management groups
  • A Corporate Lactation Program
  • Free access to headquarters fitness facilities and the RRB health unit.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE / EMPLOYEE RESILIENCE PROGRAM (EAP/ERP)

The USAID Staff Care Program provides services designed to strengthen personal and organizational resilience. Resilience is the ability to bounce back from difficult experiences. Staff are experienced in working across cultures; in providing self-care training and consultations; in facilitating organizational strengthening; in coaching supervisors, managers and executives; and in offering employee and family support. The services provided include

  • Confidential Counseling. Counselors are available for matters such as relationship support, stress management, building individual resilience, depression, anxiety, grief and profound life changing events.
  • Legal and Financial Consultations. Free telephonic financial counseling. Free legal consultations with US attorneys and referrals for international attorneys.
  • Specialized Services. Coaching, training, critical incident response and customized work-group support to build organizational resilience strengthen group dynamics and/or promote recovery after emergencies, disasters or other traumatic events.

CHILD CARE SUBSIDY PROGRAM

The USAID Child Care Subsidy Program, a family friendly initiative, is designed to support qualified lower income USAID employees. Participants are selected on a first-come/first-served basis. This is the only component of the entire Staff Care Program that is not available to the Agency's entire workforce. By law, this subsidy is available only to U.S. Direct Hire employees. To be eligible, the employee's total adjusted gross family/household income must be $89,900 or less, and their children age 13 or younger (or disabled child is under 18).
