Mission

First Army, as FORSCOM's designated coordinating authority for implementation of the Army Total Force Policy, partners with USAR and ARNG leadership to advise, assist, and train RC formations to achieve Department of the Army directed readiness requirements during both pre- and post-mobilization through multi-component integrated collective training, enabling FORSCOM to provide Combatant Commanders trained and ready forces in support of worldwide requirements.

Vision

First Army remains the most highly-trained and professional multi-component collective training integrator in the US Army; uniquely organized with AC and RC certified skilled Trainers at the point of need in support of the Army's Total Force Policy. Scalable and adaptive, First Army exercises unprecedented capacity to partner with Reserve Component leaders to meet their training readiness requirements, shoulder-to-shoulder through planning, preparation and execution during post pre-mobilization and post-mobilization.

Authority

First Army operates within a legislative and legal framework established by National Defense Authorization Acts (NDAA), Public Laws, and Title X of the United States Code, delegated by Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA) through FORSCOM. These authorities provide the basis of First Army's role to provide training and readiness oversight to reserve component units.
