Your Environmental Health Office on Fort Irwin
Our mission is to enhance readiness and public health by providing environmental health support to the Weed Army Community Hospital as well as the Garrison on Fort Irwin. Our responsibilities include but are not limited to the following environmental health categories:

Food Safety and Food Handling Certification
Environmental Health inspects all food service facilities. This includes fixed facilities, food trailers/mobile units, and temporary Fort Irwin food events that occur on local and national holidays such as the Fourth of July, garrison Oktoberfest as well as concerts and sporting events.

Sanitation
To protect public health, routine sanitary surveillance is conducted on the following facilities: child care facilities, barber/beauty/nail shops, swimming pools, gyms/fitness centers, recreation and RV camping areas.

Pest Management
Routine surveillance is conducted of desert insect populations incl. mosquitos in the Fort Irwin Housing areas. Spot checks and tracking is conducted throughout the year.

Water Surveillance
Environmental Health monitors water quality of domestic water supplies on Fort Irwin. This is done via review of all state mandated water testing results, coordination with Directorate of Public Works on water quality complaints, and ensuring regulatory compliance with federal and state of California regulations. Instructions for receiving Basic Food Handler certification:
1. Review the Food Safety Operation Training by clicking the image above.

2. Read and accept the following privacy statement, and include your first name, last name and email address to print your certificate.

"By submitting the answers to this quiz, you certify that you are the person taking the exam and the person entitled to the certificate of completion. The proprietor for the exam has the capability to compare the origin of the submissions. Your first and last name will be printed on your certificate. A valid email address is required to receive your certificate. Providing us your first name, last name and email address is optional. However, if you do not provide us with this information, we will be unable to give you the Basic Food Safety Certificate. This website does not retain this information and no cookies will be placed on your computer."

3. Email us if you have any questions.

4. Score 80% on the quiz accessed on the link located below.

5. Test will be graded and a certificate will be emailed back to you.
Certificates can take up to 72 hours to complete. Any submissions after 4:30 p.m. will not be processed until the following morning.

Please Note: Your first and last name will be kept on file at the Food Safety section of the Fort Irwin Preventive Medicine department. Your name will be kept on file to issue you a replacement certificate if you ever lose the original. Food Operation Safety Certificates expire 4 years from the date issued. If your certificate has expired, review the training material and pass the quiz with a score of 80% or higher to receive a new certificate.
