Darnall conducts mass casualty exercise

FORT HOOD — Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center conducted its annual mass casualty exercise this week at various sites within the main hospital.

“The hospital is having a two-day training (event), and we are testing a number of our system responses during what we call a mass-cal event,” said Col. Mark W. Thompson, commander of the hospital.

Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.--Soldiers assigned to General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital and the Fort Leonard Wood Dental Activity tested their Army Warrior Training skills at the Military Police Military Operations in Urban Terrain site Nov. 4.

Army Warrior Training is designed to refresh and test warrior tasks. Soldiers assigned to the hospital could get tasked to deploy if a need arises. Being proficient in medical and Soldier skills are vital to the whole-Soldier concept.

Army Wellness Center keeps Fort Bliss in shape

FORT BLISS, Texas--For most soldiers at Fort Bliss, a typical day begins with approximately one hour of physical training. Workouts usually vary between cardio and calisthenics. Yet, according to a 2015 Health of the Force Report, which compares overall health profiles of military bases across the country, Fort Bliss has an obesity rate of 12.9 percent, just slightly above the national average.

That means that in addition to those 60 minutes of daily exercise, most soldiers must incorporate additional workouts into their schedules, plus balanced, nutritional meals.
