Command Sergeant Major, Public Health Command - Central

 

Command Sergeant Major James E. Chambers entered the U.S. Army and completed One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, GA as an Infantryman (11B).  He reclassified and completed training as a Medical Logistics Specialist (68J) at Fort Sam Houston, TX.

 

His assignments include:  1/27 Infantry Battalion (Wolfhounds), 25th Infantry Division Light at Schofield Barracks, HI; 47th MEDSOM at Fort Hood, TX; 147th MEDLOG BN (Rear) at Fort Sam Houston, TX; Tripler Army Medical Center in HI; HHC, 46th Corps Support Group (ABN) at Fort Bragg, NC; B, 32nd MEDLOG BN (FWD) at Fort Bragg, NC; San Antonio Recruiting Battalion and 5th Medical Recruiting Battalion at Fort Sam Houston, TX; 551st Medical Company (Logistics) at Fort Lewis, WA; USA Medical Research and Materiel Command, Fort Detrick, MD; USA Sergeants Major Academy at Fort Bliss, TX; Sergeant Major for the U.S. Army Medical Materiel Center, Europe (USAMMCE) in Pirmasens, Germany; and he is currently serving as the Command Sergeant Major for Public Health Command Region – South, Joint Base San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston, TX.

 

His previous leadership positions include Property Management NCOIC, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, NCOIC for the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, and Sergeant Major.

 

CSM Chambers’ military education includes:  Primary Leadership Develop Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, Army Recruiter Course, Health Care Recruiter Course, First Sergeant Course, and the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Course – Class 62.  He also earned an Associate Degree in Business Management Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts, and a Master of Science in Information Technology Management, with a concentration in Military Operations.

 

His awards include:  Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), National Defense Service Ribbon (2), Iraq Campaign Medal (2 CS), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 4, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 4, the Expert Field Medical Badge, the Air Assault Badge, the Drivers Badge, the coveted Recruiter Ring, and the Order of Military Medical Merit.
