Product Data Reporting and Evaluation Program: Reporting Tools: Material Inspection Record (MIR)

General Procedure: A Material Inspection Record is required for every end item deliverable inspected by Naval personnel on contractor procured or federal supply system material. The MIR shall be entered in the PDREP database for all inspection actions by a Navy activity representative acting alone or in conjunction with a Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) Quality Assurance Representative (QAR). Any non-conformance with contract or specification requirements shall be recorded as a reject on the MIR, even though rework, re-submittal, or acceptance as is may have subsequently reconciled the non-conformance via a waiver/deviation. Any non-conforming material returned to the contractor for rework or replacement which is subsequently returned, shall be considered a new lot of material. A new MIR with a new serial number shall be generated.

EZ MIR: EZ MIR allows users who do not have a PDREP account to originate and submit an MIR. This allows deployed units to issue an MIR on deficient material without having an account within the PDREP AIS.
