Mr. Hugh H. Hardin assumed the duties of Deputy to the Garrison Commander,
USAG Presidio of Monterey, on April 6, 2015.

He was born in Sasebo, Japan, but as the son of a Naval officer has called many places home. Mr. Hardin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering and commission as an Armor officer upon graduation from the United States Military Academy in 1991.

Mr. Hardin has had the honor of serving the Army in assignments as a tank platoon leader and company executive officer in 2-69 Armor, and later adjutant of 1-11 Infantry, Fort Benning, Georgia; battalion S-4 of 1-63 Armor, Vilseck, Germany, and task force logistics officer of Task Force 1-63 Armor during Operation Able Sentry VII, Skopje, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia; Delta, then Charlie Company commander in 1-63 Armor, Vilseck, Germany; and Chief of the Heavy Axis Experiments Division, Combat Service Support Battle Lab, Combined Arms Support Command, Fort Lee, Virginia. Mr. Hardin also has broad civilian experience, having worked in brand management at Procter & Gamble, sales management at Best Buy, and as a financial advisor at American Express Financial Advisors. He joined the Department of the Army Civilian Corps in Grafenwoehr, Germany, where he served in several staff positions within USAG Grafenwoehr before his selection as the Deputy to the Garrison Commander, USAG Natick, in December 2008. Mr. Hardin has served in his present assignment as the Deputy to the Garrison Commander, USAG Presidio of Monterey, since April 2015.

Mr. Hardin’s education and training include a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Military Academy, Armor Officer Basic Course, Infantry Officer Advance Course, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, relevant courses from the Army Management Staff College, relevant courses from the Defense Acquisition University, and Airborne School. He has received the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, United Nations Medal, Army Superior Unit Award, Meritorious Civilian Service Award, and Commander’s Award for Civilian Service during his career.
