Production

Oil production is reported in Barrels (42 U.S. gallons) -- abbreviated as BBL.
Natural Gas production is reported in Thousand Cubic Feet -- abbreviated as MCF (1 MCF = 1,000 CF).

- Monthly Reports (pdf)*

           Report Explanations:

  - By Well        - By County        - By Field        - By Operator

* Currently, these reports are run only once and not updated for amendments that may be made later by well operators or the division.

- Annual Production

NOTE: Coalbed Methane wells are classified as Gas Wells in the state of Utah. CBM production is included in the state's published natural gas production volumes. The first coalbed methane production in Utah occurred in 1987.

- Production Search This links to LiveData production information where data can be searched and downloaded (EXAMPLE: To search for production information for a specific well, the first drop-down box should say "API Well Number"; The second box should show "Like"; In the third box, the API number of the desired well should be entered as "4304730307").

- Formations LiveData list of formations or zones and their abbreviations as used in the division's data systems and production reports.

- Stripper Wells LiveData list of stripper wells from the most current production year. A stripper oil well is an oil well that has an average daily production of 10 barrels of crude or less per day over a 12 month period. A stripper gas well is a gas well that has an average daily production of 60 MCF of natural gas or less per day over a 12 month period.

- Production Sales Value A chart showing the annual sales values of crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids.

Database Download Files

Files (database tables)
Available for Download:
File
Description
Approximate File Size (KB)
PLEASE READ:

THIS DOWNLOAD CENTER OFFERS USERS THE ABILITY TO DOWNLOAD "RAW" DATA FROM THE DIVISION'S DATABASES.

This option is intended for serious researchers who desire to compile information for large portions of the state. Full utilization requires an understanding of database file manipulation and the ability to link/join tables and write queries. Data is updated nightly.

For smaller projects, try LiveData Search

FILE DOWNLOAD

Download each file to a Windows folder where you can locate it again. The files are in database "dbf" format and are compressed within 'self-extracting' zip (.exe) files for faster downloading. Double clicking on each downloaded 'exe' file will usually begin the extraction process. The resulting dbf files can then be opened in a database program such as Microsoft Access. The smaller files can be opened and viewed in a spreadsheet program (such as Microsoft Excel), but opening the larger files in a spreadsheet program will result in data loss (Excel 2007 allows over 1 million rows of data. The production and disposition data tables contain almost 2 million records). Please read the File Descriptions to better understand what you are downloading and to find key fields needed for linking tables.

NOTE: Newer versions of Microsoft Access no longer allow the opening of DBF files. We have broken down the production and disposition data by time periods to create smaller files that can be opened in Microsoft Excel.
