The Office of Policy, Budget, and Analysis within the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy has developed this Buildings Energy Databook to provide a current and accurate set of comprehensive buildings- and energy-related data. The Databook is an evolving document and is periodically updated. The Buildings Energy Databook includes statistics on residential and commercial building energy consumption. Data tables contain statistics related to construction, building technologies, energy consumption, and building characteristics.

Environmental Protection Agency
The Climate Protection Division of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency operates programs designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from both clean energy sources and from all end-use sectors and also undertakes analyses of the broad range of cost-effective emissions reductions opportunities from these areas.
International Energy Agency
The Energy Statistics Division (ESD) of the IEA collects, processes and publishes data and information on energy production, trade, stocks, transformation, consumption, prices and taxes as well as on greenhouse gas emissions. The geographical coverage of the IEA's statistics includes the 30 OECD Member countries and over 100 non-OECD countries world-wide.

State-by-State Electricity Profiles (U.S. Energy Information Administration)
This report profiles the electricity generation of each State, with statistics from 1990, 1994, and 1999. Data are presented for a number of areas including generating capability, electricity generation, fuel use, retail sales, nuclear power, capacity factor, and pollutant emissions. The State Electricity Profiles for the years 1996 and 1998 can also be viewed at back issues.
The State Energy Price and Expenditure Report 1999 (U.S. Energy Information Administration)
This report presents energy price and expenditure estimates for each of the 50 individual States, the District of Columbia, and in aggregate for the United States. These estimates are provided by energy source and economic sector.
Trade Groups
One function of trade groups is to gather market data about their respective industry. The majority of the time, this information is intended solely for the use of members in the group. Sometimes publications are made available to the general public, typically for a fee. We have listed some trade groups whose data is of interest to those concerned with building energy use. U.S. Bureau of the Census
The U.S. Bureau of the Census has data relating to building energy use available in an on-line format. We have compiled a listing of construction surveys, housing and household economic statistics, manufacturing surveys and population surveys. Each listing has a summary of the information available in the surveys and reports and links download sites.
