- The Arid Lands Newsletter
- The Arid Lands Newsletter is published semiannually for an international readership by The Office of Arid Land Studies at The University of Arizona. The printed version, a four page abstract summary with instructions on receiving full-text articles by email or on the web, is distributed worldwide without charge (by surface mail) to arid lands researchers, natural resource managers, policy makers, relief and development agencies or organizations, and libraries. The electronic version contains the full text of each issue.

- To help communities design and implement a vibrant new approach to planning, the U.S. Department of Energy has created a Center of Excellence for Sustainable Development. Operated by the Denver Regional Support Office, which is part of DOE's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, this new service will assist communities throughout the United States by providing world-class consultation and information on sustainable development. Federal, state, and local agencies that assist community developers are also our target customers.

- In this guide, mainly for homebuilders, each of the nearly 600 product listings includes a brief product description, icons representing categories of environmental benefit, contact information for the manufacturer, and a cost comparison with its most likely conventional alternative. Icons identify nontoxic, recycled-content, resource efficient, long life-cycle and environmentally conscious products. You can order the Green Building Resource Guide in two forms: a reference manual or a CD-ROM database.

- Green Design Initiative at Carnegie Mellon University
- The Green Design Initiative promotes environmentally conscious engineering, product and process design, manufacturing and architecture. The initiative involves forming partnerships with industrial corporations, foundations and government agencies to develop joint research and education programs which improve environmental quality while encouraging sustainable economic development.
- Greening of the White House
- The Greening of the White House is a series of environmental upgrades occurring at the White House complex, which consists of the Executive Residence, the Old Executive Office Building, and the White House Grounds. After a feasibility study in July 1993, measures began to be implemented to reduce pollution, save energy, protect water quality, improve comfort, and save money at the White House.

- This organization of design and construction professionals, lay home-owners and owner/builders, is devoted to discovering and sharing paths to more sustainable building design. The website provides a directory of people and products and reports on projects. It also tells how to get involved in your home area Chapter. Activities include lectures, field trips, and participation in energy and building conferences, festivals and Chapter projects.
- Oikos: Green Construction Source
- Oikos is dedicated to information on energy efficiency and sustainable building construction. The site offers architects, designers, building contractors, consultants and consumers detailed information on products and techniques. The centerpiece of the site is a searchable database of 1,500 sources of building materials and equipment with substantial environmental benefits, including products made with recycled content and product that save energy. Oikos also offers an electronic version of the Energy Source Builder newsletter. Oikos is operated by Iris Communications.
- Iris' offers a mail order catalog of books, videos, software and other information products to help you build homes that are energy efficient and environmentally-responsible. Since 1986 Iris has been publishing, training, producing videos and creating detailed computer databases. Everything we do promotes environmentally-sustainable construction.

- The Rocky Mountain Institute is a nonprofit research and educational foundation with a vision across boundaries. Its mission is to foster the efficient and sustainable use of resources as a path to global security.
- Santa Monica List of Green Buildings Resources
- The City of Santa Monica has a commitment to protecting the environment, improving quality of life, and promoting sustainability. In order to fulfill this commitment, the City has adopted a set of requirements and recommendations to encourage the development of "green" buildings without forcing excessive costs or other burdens upon developers, building owners or occupants. The City has also developed Green Building Guidelines to explain possible ways of achieving green building goals. This site contains information both on what you must do and what you might consider doing in order to achieve Santa Monica's standards of excellence in green building design and construction.

- Compiled by the City of Austin during their Green Building Program, the Sustainable Building Sourcebook is chock full of information, references, and sources for those interested in pursuing attractive, resource efficient, low environmental impact homes. The Austin Green Builder Program was recognized by the United Nations Local Government Honours Programme at the 1992 Earth Summit as one of 12 exemplary local government initiatives from around the world, and was the only program recognized from the United States. The Sourcebook has since become a popular resource for alternative builders around the world.

- U.S. EPA's Green Buildings Site
- This U.S. Environmental Protection Agency website is a "portal" site, designed to give users one convenient gateway from which to access numerous EPA programs and topics related to environmentally-friendly building. These programs include ENERGY STAR®, Indoor Air, Smart Growth, Environmentally Preferable Building Products and more—including a new Construction and Demolition (C&D) Debris Website (select "Waste" from list offered).
- U.S. Green Buildings Council
- The USGBC provides services to its membership and constituents. Members include building owners and managers, product manufacturers, architects/engineers and others with vested interests in the greening of buildings and the communities in which they reside. The Council provides membership services to these organizations to enhance their businesses, including information sharing, networking opportunities, business leads, and publicity. The USGBC also advocates green building practices that will result in a healthy planet.
