Fisheries ProgramThe Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program is committed to the conservation of federally endangered fish along the Lower Colorado River. This fisheries conservation effort is composed of three distinct, but related components: fish augmentation, system monitoring, and species research. The goal of the native fish augmentation program is to conserve the population and genetic diversity of the once flourishing native fish community and contribute to the recovery of the razorback sucker and bonytail. Monitoring the existing populations of razorback sucker, bonytail, and flannelmouth sucker in the system is a key component in the development of a management plan. Ongoing research on the LCR MSCP fish species will allow for more efficient rearing and monitoring and will also provide the basis for future management actions.
