Outreach

Faced with the challenge of communicating the progress of hundreds of projects to both internal and external audiences, Job Corps executed numerous successful outreach strategies at the national level, and at each of Job Corps' 125 centers nationwide. Internal communication pieces included items like the Job Corps ARRA e-newsletter, titled the "R&R (Recovery and Reinvestment) Field Report," a marketing toolkit, national training Webinars, biweekly Job Corps center spotlight presentations posted to the staff Job Corps Community Web site, and an online photo database.

To reach external audiences, an employer-specific brochure was developed to highlight Job Corps' green training opportunities, and two television advertisements were created to promote the program's new green training elements.

The Earth Day Every Day nationwide community outreach campaign was also a huge success, with centers hosting activities such as recycling competitions, energy-audit scavenger hunts, and tree-planting ceremonies. All were designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and help raise environmental awareness.

News clips were collected to capture media attention that Job Corps ARRA projects received, including a feature story on the National Director's speech at a GreenGov Symposium in Washington, D.C.

The National Office is proud of its Recovery Act initiatives and encourages you to read further and view the videos, photos, and other images that capture the projects and efforts described above.
