Requirements for attorney change of address:
An attorney whose mailing address, telephone or fax number has changed shall timely file a Notice of Change of Address in every active case in which that attorney is the attorney of record. If the attorney has no active cases (or the case is non ECF), he/she must indicate that on the Notice of Change of Address and mail the form to:

For Firm Name Change Only:
The firm is to prepare and mail a letter on the new firm letterhead, addressed to the Court, Attention Attorney Services Help Desk, detailing the new name, address, phone and fax numbers for the firm.

Each Attorney is required to login into the CM/ECF system using their own login and password to change their email address. Click on the Utilities menu on the main menu bar, select the Maintain Your Email option and change your email address.

I. To File a Notice of Change of Address in a Non-ECF case:

  • Complete the Notice of Change of Address form to request a Notice of Change of Address for actions pending at the United States District Court Southern District of New York.
  • Save the completed Notice of Change of Address form.
  • Print the form.
  • Sign the form.
  • Mail the completed form to Attorney Services.
  • Serve a copy of the Notice of Change of Address on all other parties.

II. To File a Notice of Change of Address in an ECF Case:

  • Complete the Notice of Change of Address form to request a Notice of Change of Address for actions pending at the United States District Court Southern District of New York.
  • Print the form.
  • Sign the form.
  • Scan the form and save it as a PDF file.
  • Log into the ECF System.
  • Change your e-mail address, if applicable. (see note below).
  • Electronically file the completed Notice of Change of Address form, using the event "Notice of Change of Address" located under the Notice category on the Civil Menu page if this a Civil Case and the Criminal Menu page if this is a Criminal Case.
  • Attach the pdf of the form to your docket entry.
  • Review the Notice of Electronic Filing generated from filing the Notice of Change of Address. Serve a copy of the Notice of Change of Address on all other parties, who will not be electronically served.

NOTE: If this Notice of Change of Address involves a change of the e-mail address, you must change the e-mail address first on the system before electronically filing the Notice of Change of Address form. Failure to do so will result in the delivery failure of the Notice of Electronic Filing to the old e-mail address.

To change the e-mail address:

  • Log into the ECF System.
  • Click on the Utilities menu option.
  • Click on Maintain Your E-mail menu option, then
  • Click on your email address.
  • Backspace and clear out the old email address.
  • Type in the new e-mail address.
  • Click the "Submit All Changes" button.
