Colonel Benjamin C. Jones

Colonel Benjamin C. Jones received his commission from the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, in 1992.
He began his military career in the 440th Signal Battalion at Cambrai Fritsch Kaserne in Darmstadt, Germany, where he served as nodal platoon leader and later as company executive officer. He then moved to the 22nd Signal Brigade where he served as assistant S3 and deployed to Bosnia with the Brigade in January 1996.
After attending military school, Jones took command of Bravo Company, 67th Signal Battalion, at Fort Gordon, Georgia.
Following company command, Jones was assigned to the former Army Signal Command (now NETCOM) at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, as the action officer for the Southwest Area of Operations. During this assignment he deployed to East Timor, Indonesia, in Support of Operation STABILIZE.
After graduating from the University of Colorado through the Advanced Civil Schooling program, Jones deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, and served as the Brigade S4 for the 160th Signal Brigade in Kuwait and in Iraq during their stand-up in Southwest Asia.
After attending military school, he served on the joint staff, first in the J6 Joint Testing Branch and later as C4I action officer for the Pakistan Afghanistan Coordination Cell.
Following his time on the joint staff, Jones commanded the 53rd Signal Battalion, 1st Space Brigade, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
After completing battalion command, Jones served with the Defense Information Systems Agency Pacific as the PACOM C4I program manager at Camp Smith, Hawaii.
After attendance at another military school, he was assigned as the director of communications (CJ6) for the NATO Special Operations Component Command-Afghanistan (NSOCC-A) / Special Operations Joint Task Force - Afghanistan (SOJTF-A).
Jones is distinguished military graduate from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Knox College, a master of science degree in telecommunications management from the University of Colorado, and a master of strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
He is a graduate of the Army Signal Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College.
Jones’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (fifth award), the NATO Medal, the Army Superior Unit Award, the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, the Joint Staff Badge, the Parachutist Badge, the Basic Space Badge, the Combat Action Badge and the Bronze Order of Mercury.
