Chiquita Coggs
Originally from Wyandotte County, Commissioner Coggs now lives in Topeka and is employed as the Executive Director for the Kansas Board of Cosmetology. Ms. Coggs served on the State Advisory Committee for the U.S. Civil Rights Commission and was previously a candidate for the Kansas House of Representatives, District 35. While in Kansas City, Commissioner Coggs was the founder of the only charter school in USD 500, the Maurice Holman Academy of Excellence Public Charter School. A current doctoral student working toward a degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Commissioner Coggs hopes to become a consultant in organizational development for multinational corporations as her retirement career.  Commissioner Coggs would like to see the African American Community become more proactive in education efforts for our children; see an increase in the number of mentoring programs for children of color; and help to continue cooperative law enforcement efforts.
