Features

The May-June 2008 issue of TR News includes an article entitled "Changing the Culture of Construction Management: Applying Lessons from the International Technology Scanning Program." The article discusses how the U.S. highway community has benefited and changed the way it does business as a result of the "Construction Management Practices in Canada and Europe" scan that was undertaken in 2004.

The recent issue of "Routes Roads" (2008 - No. 338) includes an article entitled "FHWA Moves Self-Propelled Modular Transporters into U.S. Accelerated Bridge Construction Practice," which summarizes how self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) technology, which was identified on the 2004 "Prefabricated Bridge Elements and Systems in Japan and Europe" scan, is being applied in the United States to accelerate onsite bridge construction, reduce the impact on the motoring public and, also improve quality of the final product.
