  • The recent issue of "Routes Roads" (2008 - No. 338) includes an article entitled "FHWA Moves Self-Propelled Modular Transporters into U.S. Accelerated Bridge Construction Practice," which summarizes how self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) technology, which was identified on the 2004 "Prefabricated Bridge Elements and Systems in Japan and Europe" scan, is being applied in the United States to accelerate onsite bridge construction, reduce the impact on the motoring public and, also improve quality of the final product.
