EVALUATING ACTIONS TO RECOVER
PUGET SOUND

Tracking and evaluating Puget Sound ecosystem recovery efforts as they are carried out is key to holding partners accountable, understanding successes and challenges, and supporting changes to the work. We track the progress and funding of hundreds of Near Term Actions owned by a range of Puget Sound partners.

Evaluating the progress of these actions is a critical tool not only for informing the management of recovery efforts, but is also a requirement in the Partnership’s founding legislation and an important statutory component of the biennial State of the Sound report.

Several online tools offer accessible opportunities to track the recovery actions and activities taking place throughout the Sound:

REPORT CARD

We report on the status and funding of the Action Agenda’s Near Term Actions in the Action Agenda Report Card. This online tool allows users to find out more about specific actions, or groups of actions, with a range of helpful filters and search options. Learn more

Effectiveness Monitoring

Many restoration and management actions have been effective in restoring ecosystem components and processes in Puget Sound, but much of the evidence of success is found in technical documents that are not easy to access. We are reviewing scientific reports to distill information about what’s working to restore Puget Sound. This information, once vetted by regional experts, is presented in fact sheets and narrative summaries that can be used to help develop effective programs and projects that align with the Puget Sound Action Agenda and accelerate the recovery of Puget Sound. STATE OF THE SOUND

The Partnership is required in Washington state statute to produce a State of the Sound report every 2 years to demonstrate progress in our collective efforts to recover the Sound. The State of the Sound website is a comprehensive and broadly accessible resource that includes the latest report content, as well as additional in-depth analysis and technical information not available in the briefer, printed documents.
