Snow and Ice Awareness

Often in Alabama, winter brings very cold temperatures and an increased awareness of snow and ice problems. Sometimes heavy snowfall or freezing rain may occur. The cold temperatures can beSnow dangerous if you are not dressed correctly and could lead to frostbite or hypothermia. REMEMBER! Always dress in even layers to protect your body. Kids are recommended to wear:

A hat
A scarf
Mittens
Boots
Layers of loose-fitting clothing

Eat a well-balanced meal and drinking warm liquids are other ways to keep warm in the winter. Doing both of these help to preserve your body temperature. If you must go outside, try to keep your exposure to the freezing temperatures limited and never stray too far from a warm shelter.
