TRMM Trending Results

PPS has started reprocessing all TRMM data as of  July 20, 2011 with the V7 algorithms. The earliest data date is Dec. 8, 1997, however not all instruments were operational at that time. PPS performs reprocessing at an accelerated rate, sometimes producing 192 or more data days per day.

The trending software is run on each orbit of data producing ASCII files that contain the sum, sum of squares and count information of each variable along with other book keeping information. Graphs are also produced for some fields.

The data is separated into four sections, one for current Version 7 Initial Processing, one for Re-processed Version 7 data, one for the previous Version 6 Initial Processing and one for the Re-processed Version 6 data.

Above example is a plot of the peak to peak roll estimated by the PR starting with orbit 21541 on Aug. 25, 2001 just after the TRMM altitude boost completed. This plot is updated daily as PPS/TSDIS generates its products. Vertical lines on the plot indicate Yaw maneuvers.
