There May Be A Research Study For You

Your participation may help us...

[D]

Whether you smoke cigarettes, use other drugs, or use nothing at all...
There may be a research study for you.

ALCOHOL USERS

While NIDA does not currently run any research studies investigating alcohol use, we would like to direct anyone interested in those studies to NIAAA. NIAAA research studies will help find out how alcohol affects the body and brain and help develop new treatments for alcoholism.

If you drink alcohol, you might be able to join one of NIAAA’s research studies, including their treatment program. Call 301–496–1993 for more information.

DRUG USERS

NIDA research studies will help find out how certain drugs affect the body and brain.

If you use cocaine, marijuana, heroin, pain pills or other drugs, you might be able to join one of our research studies, including our treatment programs. It's free to join, and you will be paid for your time and local travel. All participants receive ongoing medical care while they are in the study to monitor their health and safety.

Other volunteers may participate in studies where no drugs, alcohol, nicotine or investigational medications are administered. There are also studies where participants may be exposed to nicotine or study medications under medical supervision and in accordance with strict research guidelines. Please note we do not give illicit drugs or alcohol to people who have never used them.
