EEO Policy Statement

The major functions of the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity are EEO counseling, EEO mediation services and complaints management.

EEO is the right of all persons to work and advance on the basis of merit, ability, and potential.

Federal equal employment laws prohibit discrimination and require the government to provide equal employment
opportunities without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disabling condition (mental or physical), or reprisal.

Accordingly, federal policies provide for the fair and equal treatment of employees and applicants for employment in all personnel management and employment decisions.

How do I file an internal complaint?

If an employee or applicant for employment believes that he or she has been discriminated against based on
  • race
  • color
  • religion
  • gender
  • national origin
  • age (40 or over)
  • sexual orientation
  • physical or mental disability
  • genetic information, or
  • reprisal for involvement in a current or prior EEO activity

At the FHFA, the employee or applicant must contact FHFA's Manager of EEO Services within 45 days of the alleged discriminatory event to be timely under EEOC regulations.

FHFA's Manager of EEO Services is a neutral party trained to gather facts and attempt to resolve allegations of discrimination.

If the matter is not resolved, the FHFA's Manager of EEO Services will advise the employee or applicant of his or her right to file a formal complaint of discrimination.
