Cooperativa de Servicios Múltiples Tepeyac (Tepeyac) will increase the income of dairy farmers by constructing a pasteurizing and processing plant, offering technical and financial assistance to improve dairy production and strengthen the local dairy sector, and by providing support for marketing activities.


Unión de Cooperativas Agropecuarias Productoras de Café Orgánico (UCPCO) will work with farmers in Madriz to develop their ability to produce and export certified Fair-Trade and organic coffee.It will provide the farmers financial and technical assistance and equipment, will construct an office and a store, and will improve its processing plant to include a quality control laboratory, a drying patio and a storage facility.

Cooperativa Multisectorial Verde Esperanza, R.L. (COMULVERL) will work in El Jicaral and Santa Rosa del Peñon, rural municipalities in the department of León, to strengthen grassroots organizations in 22 communities; provide farmers credit, materials, training and technical assistance; and make credit and training available to entrepreneurs operating small retail and industrial enterprises.

Fundación Caja Rural San Lorenzo (CARUSALO) will provide four groups of farmers in Boaco training, technical assistance and credit toward improving their production of beans, rice, vegetables and dragon fruit.It will support the farmers’ efforts to apply new irrigation technologies, construct crop-collection centers and a greenhouse, and pool their crops to market in volume to wholesalers in Managua.

Unión de Cooperativas Agropecuarios Héroes y Mártires de Miraflor, R.L. (MIRAFLOR) will work in the Miraflor Nature Reserve, investing in ecotourism infrastructure, the production of organic coffee and organic pesticides, wet-mills for processing coffee beans on farms, water conservation and reforestation, a revolving fund extending loans of cattle, and the local agro-ecological institute.

Asociación Familia Padre Fabretto (AFPF) will reach more than 1,200 students with its application of the Sistema de Aprendizaje Tutorial, a secondary-school program, in the communities of San José de Cusmapa and San Isidro de Bolas. It will develop teaching materials, train tutors, launch the academic curriculum and offer students community-development and revenue-generating activities as well as opportunities to volunteer.

Unión de Cooperativas Agropecuarias Sociedad de Pequeños Productores de Café (SOPPEXCCA) Through training and technical assistance, the expansion of its dry mill, construction of two new drying patios, and the purchase of machinery and equipment, SOPPEXCCA will increase the profits of its farmer-members who cultivate conventional and organic coffee in the municipalities of Jinotega and El Cuá.

Bluefields Indian and Caribbean University (BICU) will offer more than 150 families in seven communities in and around the Mahogany Wetlands Municipal Ecological Park in the Southern Atlantic Autonomous Region, training, technical assistance and other support for sustainable agriculture and their small businesses and organizations.

Emprendedores Juveniles de Nicaragua (EJN) expects to improve income and employment prospects for 400 young entrepreneurs in Managua, Masaya and Granada through its program that combines general training in business with specialized training in agribusiness, tourism or information technology. It will also offer technical assistance, mentoring and inkind support toward starting businesses.


Fundación Luchadores Integrados al Desarrollo de la Región (LIDER) will work with farmers in 20 communities of the Peninsula of Cosigüina to improve their access to markets in Nicaragua and abroad, and with entrepreneurs to develop and promote their ecotourism services.

Asociación de Comunidades de la Peninsula de Cosigüina (ACODEPEC) will further development through training, organization and the administration of a subgrant fund to support initiatives in 20 communities of Cosigüina.

Cooperativa Multisectorial Productores de Café Orgánico Certificado Las Segovias R.L. (PROCOCER) will offer coffee farmers in the department of Nueva Segovia training, technical assistance and access to better infrastructure.

Asociación para el Desarrollo del Norte de Chinandega (ADENOCH) will develop their ability to formulate and undertake initiatives that improve their income and living conditions.

Centro Promocional Cristiano por La Paz y La Vida (CPCPV) will offer training and access to a loan fund to members of a new network who provide services to tourists visiting San Ramón. The program is expected to reach 400 Nicaraguans, including low-income youths.

Casa Alianza (CAN) will conduct outreach to young people and their parents in three low-income neighborhoods of Managua. It will provide the adults and older children training in job skills and in microenterprise development, offer young people opportunities to participate in internships and sports leagues, and make available seed capital to support the new businesses expected to form. Its resources include a residential drug treatment center for young people and a shelter for teen mothers and their babies.

 

Asociación para el Desarrollo de la Costa Atlántica Pana Pana (Pana Pana) will strengthen the capacity of 14 rural and peri-urban community water and sanitation committees on the isolated Atlantic Coast to leverage resources from the government, NGOs and other entities. The goal is to reduce disease by constructing sustainable water supply and sanitation infrastructure and provide education to create awareness of the need for a hygienic environment in local communities.
