Command Sergeant Major Robert H. Brickley assumed duties as State Command Sergeant Major, South Carolina National Guard, in July 2010. As the state command sergeant major, Brickley serves as the Adjutant General's personal advisor for all enlisted-related issues, particularly those affecting training and quality of life. He travels throughout the state, nation and world observing training and talking to Soldiers, Airmen and their families.

Command Sergeant Major Brickley enlisted in the South Carolina Army National Guard (SCARNG) in November 1980, in Headquarters, Headquarters Company, Aviation Section, 218th (HSB) Heavy Separate Brigade, Newberry, South Carolina. Since enlisting he has served in a variety of positions to include: Section Leader, Squad Leader, and Platoon Sergeant, Aircraft Components Repair Supervisor, Operations Master Sergeant, Operations Sergeant Major, Command Sergeant Major of 351st Aviation Support Battalion, Command Sergeant Major of 59th Aviation Troop Command.

While serving as the traditional M-Day Soldier, Command Sergeant Major Brickley pursued a career in airborne law enforcement. His airborne law enforcement career started in January 1990 where he served as Chief Pilot and Lieutenant, Special Operations Aviation Section, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), Columbia, South Carolina. During his airborne law enforcement career, Command Sergeant Major Brickley has received numerous commendations for excellence and achievements in the field of airborne law enforcement.

Command Sergeant Major Brickley is the proud parent of a daughter, Heather Lynn Brickley and attends St. Williams Catholic Church, Ward, South Carolina. His professional memberships include the South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers Association (SCLEOA), the Airborne Law Enforcement Association (ALEA), the National Guard Association of South Carolina (NGASC), Enlisted National Guard Association of the United States (ENGAUS) and the Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA).
